5 digital newsletters and round-up blogs you should be reading

Keeping up with the latest news in social and digital can be hard, especially if you’re not sure where to look. If you’re in a digital role, knowing all the latest news and trends is an important part of your job. Luckily, there are plenty of email newsletters and blogs which do all the hard work for you and tell you everything you need to know or might have missed. Here are the five digital newsletters that I find the most useful:

Dan Slee: Email newsletter

How often: weekly
Where: Sign up to the email on Dan’s blog
I always enjoy Dan’s take on things and he often manages to find interesting angles on digital marketing and comms that other people don’t. As well as his own blogs, Dan’s weekly email newsletter includes things he’s found interesting, a video of the week, digital insights, news and more. The email arrives in inboxes every Friday which means you’ll always finish the week with some food for thought.

Joe Freeman: This Week

How often: weekly
Where: Medium
Joe not only shares useful links to news and campaign’s he’s found interesting over the last seven days, he also gives his own views and comments alongside the links, using his experience working in digital for the NHS to add context or analysis to what he’s sharing. It often covers different social channels, topics that have been making the rounds online, charity comms and campaigns so there’ll always be something of interest.

Madeleine Sugden: Digital round-up

How often: Monthly
Where: On Madeleine’s blog
Interested in what charities and non-profits are up to online? Madeline’s round-up is the place to go. She includes lots of handy links to unusual campaigns, interesting stories and useful blogs she’s found throughout the month. There’s absolutely loads each month to investigate which might just inspire your own digital strategy.

Helpful Digital: Helpful Links

How often: Monthly
Where: Helpful Digital’s blog
I’m a little bit biased but I think HD’s Helpful Links blogs pull together some of the best news, blogs and case studies from the digital marketing and crisis comms worlds. Many of the suggested reading come from the things us in the Helpful Digital office have found particularly interesting throughout the month and I’m sure you’ll find them interesting too.

Battenhall: Battenhall Monthly

How often: Monthly
Where: Sign up to the email
The Battenhall newsletter includes some of the latest news in digital and social media so if you can’t keep up with it all, this newsletter will help. Each monthly email also includes a graph showing the increase in follower counts for the big social networks so you can keep track of what’s happening in the digital world quickly and easily.

Where do you get your social media news from? What newsletters and round-up blogs do you find most useful? Let me know in the comments.
